DESIGNING THE DIE – call your teacher to mark each tutorial as it is completed BEFORE proceeding to the next tutorial! 

• Tutorial 1 – project setup and creation of top side
• Tutorial 2 – creating bottom side and jointing
• Tutorial 3 – creating Sides ‘A & B’
• Tutorial 4 – creating Sides ‘C & D’
• Tutorial 5 – adding dots
• Tutorial 6 – create a technical drawing
  • Using knowledge gained from CAD Assign 1 Create an Orthographic Drawing of the cube using this drawing as reference
  • Use 11″ x 8 1/2″ ASME Paper Size 
  • Print, check over, then hand in your drawing for grading

MANUFACTURING THE DIE (CAM – Computer Assisted Machining)

• Setting up Tool Paths
  • Tutorial 1 – Loading a ‘post processor’ (you will need this file… dxf post procesor)
  • Tutorial 2 – Machine Setup 
  • Tutorial 3 – Creating a ‘tool’ for our laser (you will need this file… Laser Tool)
  • Tutorial 4 – Creating Tool Paths
  • Tutorial 5 – Saving to ‘DXF’ using post processor from Tutorial 1
• Inkscape
  • Tutorial 1 – Importing DXF files
  • Tutorial 2 – Modifying line types and dots
• Outputing to Laser
  • Saving as PDF and ‘Printing’ to Universal Laser Systems ‘UCP’ (User Control Panel)
  • Setting up the UCP
