intro to trades

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

The Intro To Trades course is designed to give students an overview of the carpentry plumbing and electrical trades, as well as a few more in lesser detail. This course will teach students how to work safely on the job site, as well as introduce students to the tools and process used in many trades. Measurement, drafting and blueprint reading are also part of the course. Upon completion of the course students will have a basic understanding of drawings and technical language used on the job site. To excel in this course students will have to maintain a safety conscious attitude, be meticulous with the detail on their labs/projects and use their shop time wisely.

Electrical Unit

This unit covers the basics of electricity and how to work with the common tools when working with electrical circuits.     Students will learn how to install receptacles, single pole switches, 3-way switches and lights.
