Steps to Complete

Part One:  What is AI and Machine Learning

(1 hour)

  1.  Students get a basic introduction to AI.
  2. Watch video from Code.org that explains what Machine Learning is.
  3. Experience training a computer with Quick Draw.
  4. Use the IBM Machine Learning site to train a computer.
  5. There is an opportunity to make a game in Scratch using the computer you trained (optional).

Part Two: The Ethics of Using AI

(1 hour)

  1.  Discuss the meaning of the word ethics and what we mean by ethics and AI.
  2. Watch a video that explains ethics and AI
  3. Groups discuss scenarios that involve the use of AI in school.
  4. Groups share their scenarios and thoughts.
  5. Back in groups, students write the rules that they feel should be in place in their classroom regarding the use of AI.
  6. Students complete “The Ethics of AI Exit Ticket”
