Sue Bannister, retired S.D. 71 educator, created the Successful Learner Traits as part of her Masters work. Teachers around our district are finding this framework useful as they navigate the redesigned curriculum, specifically the core competencies. As Sue says, “Teachers are really drawn to them, because like me, they recognize the truth to making what leads to success explicit to our students. It’s just such a great way to teach and so positive all around. Now that competencies have become a part of the new curriculum the Successful Learner Traits are just a great fit.”
