Computational Fluency
Computational fluency develops from a strong sense of number.
How many different ways can you solve…? (eg. 16X7)
Virtual structures available for students to create deep connections and relationships between the big ideas of all operations:
ReimaginED Bead String is a marvelous counting or cardinal model to represent multiplicative reasoning and relationships to 100
The Open Numberline is a measurement model where students may represent strategies and computational thinking beyond 100
Partial Product Finder allows multiplication to 50 X 50 to be represented as a rectangle, or array, with dimensions that match the quantity. This helps students develop the flexibility and conceptual understanding required to build fluency with basic facts and strategies for multiplication of larger numbers.
