Students who have taken the course in grade 9 will focus on more complex projects, PCB design, and programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Level 1 Projects (Robotics 8 or no prior experience)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>3D Parts:<\/strong> tutorial in 3D modelling using a program called Inventor<\/li><li><strong>Button-Fade:<\/strong> printed circuit board (PCB) that uses most basic components<\/li><li><strong>Breadboarding:<\/strong> prototyping boards for learning how electronics work<\/li><li><strong>Laser Box:<\/strong> a project that combines 3D modelling, 2D software, and the laser engraver<\/li><li><strong>Water Piano:<\/strong> electronics project that includes a circuit board and wood case<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Additional Projects for Level 1<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>3x3x3 LED Cube: <\/strong>LEDs soldered into a cube and mounted to a PCB and wood base<\/li><li><strong>Orthographic &amp; Assemblies: <\/strong>tutorials in advanced 3D modelling and communicating design<\/li><li><strong>3D Print Project: <\/strong>students can propose a project they would like to create using the 3D printers<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Level 2 Projects (completed Electronics 9)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>AutoCAD Intro &amp; Mechanical:<\/strong> tutorials in 2D design software<\/li><li><strong>Penta-Fade PCB:<\/strong> printed circuit board (PCB) used for practicing advanced soldering<\/li><li><strong>Multimeter:<\/strong> exercises to learn how to use a multimeter to test and diagnose circuits<\/li><li><strong>DipTrace<\/strong>: software used to design PCBs so students will be able to create their own boards<\/li><li><strong>Arduino:<\/strong> learn to program a microcontroller and control a circuit board using a computer<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Additional Projects for Level 2<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Nano-Shield:<\/strong> create a PCB used for advanced Arduino programming<\/li><li><strong>Lantern:<\/strong> design a small lantern that will include rainbow flashing lights inside<\/li><li><strong>3D Print or Laser Project:<\/strong> students can propose projects that use the 3D printers or laser<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Assessment<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5%&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Safety (100% on safety tests required)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15%&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Tutorials &amp; Theory<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>60%&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Project Work<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20%&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Shop Practice<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Expectations<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will be working with expensive equipment in a shared space that is important to many people. I expect that you treat room and everyone in it with respect. You are required to work safely, clean up, and put in a consistent effort into your work.
