Communicating Student Learning
Tips for a successful year of sharing your child’s learning
- Post evidence of learning to the learner’s portfolio in all subject areas on an ongoing basis
- Include a brief description of the assignment
- Multi-media posts (video, audio, photos) are engaging and descriptive. Include a written reflection with all photos.
- Assessment can be both formal (tests, benchmarks, rubrics) and informal (observations, conversations, photographs with reflections)
- Student voice is essential: go beyond reporting what your child ‘can do’; show-and-tell
