Supporting Reading at Home
- Find time to read to your child.
- Listen as your child reads books that have been recommended by their teacher or have been sent home from school.
- Discuss the books you read together. Ask questions like “What do you think will happen next?” and “How do you think the character feels about what is happening?”
- Have conversations with your children. Encourage them to answer in complete sentences. Help them to organize and share their thoughts and ideas.
